Augie: Class of 2020

Meet the one-and-only AUGIE!

My amazing,

Artistic,

Athletic

(also super photogenic)

COUSIN!

Augie, you are growing up into the coolest person ever! I had so much fun taking your photos. We had the most perfect Minnesota evening and you were the perfect photo subject! I couldn’t have asked for better.

I have to say, I admire the heck out of you. You are a person of such unique passion. You have a creative eye and so much artistic talent! I can’t wait to see you pursue your interests, especially those of fashion and interior design, and whatever else you discover along the way! I know that wherever you choose to go and whatever you choose to do after graduation, you are going to do amazing things. Aside from being talented and smart, you are so kind, chill, fun, and down-to-earth. Any school or place you choose to go to will be so blessed to have you in it. There’s no one quite like you, Augie B. I am so excited for you, and for the adventure that lies ahead of you to unfold. It’s gonna be great!

Best of luck with your senior year! Between the moments on the tennis courts, to the slopes, to the classroom, to hanging with friends and making the most of your last year of high school, I wish you all the best!

Love,

Your Very Proud Cousin,

Meghan :-)

Ellery: Class of 2020

Let me tell you about ELLERY!

She is a bright, bubbly, spunky, entrepreneurial, and totally down-to-earth senior. She was a DELIGHT to photograph - even at 6am! Our shoot was quite the adventure (partially because I was navigationally challenged at a shoot, once again haha) and it was the best possible start to my day. Can we do it again next week?!

Ellery has goals, ambitions, and a huge heart for serving others and making the world a better place. She is bold and confident, and honestly just fantastic in every way. And she has the greatest laugh and is guaranteed to brighten your day! She definitely brightened mine.

An athlete, soccer star, volunteer, and amazing friend - that’s what Ellery is, and so much more. Let’s just call her “superwoman.”

I think Ellery set a new record for me for variety in backgrounds achieved in one shoot!! We started off her shoot on an elegant note at a gorgeous barn setting, then ventured toward the cities where we had a hay day with all the different urban colors, textures, and hidden gems. We also found many flowers, greens, and a lake all at our second ‘city’ location. It’s safe to say we covered all our bases and got in most likely alllll of our daily steps. And that’s the best way to do your senior shoot in my opinion; to make it a spontaneous adventure!

Thank you so much for spending your morning with me and for letting me capture your amazing essence + beauty, Ellery!! You are amazing and I can’t wait to see you pursue your passions!

Caroline: Class of 2020

Meet Caroline:

A friendly, fun, smart, accomplished, hard-working, stunningly beautiful, extraordinary up-and-coming Class of 2020 senior! I could go on and on raving about her!

I am so lucky to photograph the last Egan daughter! Caroline, the word I keep getting when I think about you is BLOSSOM! You have truly blossomed into a delightful and distinguishes young lady, even in the past 2 years since I saw you at Maddie’s senior pictures. I’m so amazed and impressed by you! Who you are is deeply beautiful and you have immense potential. You are a hard worker and it shows! Keep pouring your heart and soul into the things that are important to you. You shine from the inside out and when you set your heart and mind to something, you are unstoppable.

You mentioned to me that your mom is your role model, as a strong and kind woman in your life. Well, Caroline, I have to tell you that I see those exact traits in you as well. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree :-) Wow, did someone just start chopping up some onions?…

There’s something remarkably special about photographing someone I’ve known for a few years. It reminds me that each person is on a journey and we are all in a constant state of not only being, but becoming. I know this is only beginning for you.

I hope you have an amazing senior year. Cheering for you & I can’t wait to see where your dreams and goals take you!

Morgan: Class of 2020

Time to brag about Morgan. Not a tough job.

Morgan is:

Well-traveled,

Adventurous,

Intelligent,

Thoughtful,

A total stunner,

A soccer player,

A listener,

A loyal friend,

& overall a humble & very very sweet gal!

If I were to dial back the clock and go back to high school again, I would choose her as my friend no doubt :-)

Morgan is as beautiful on the outside as she is on the inside. She puts in the work and makes her dreams a reality but always is looking out for those around her as well.

It was a JOY to capture her beautify and spend the (very early) morning with her! A natural leader and a loyal listener…. two traits that make a powerful woman!!

Also, Morgan, I teared up reading the heartwarming words written about you by your parents. You are so loved, appreciated, and adored by those who love you. And I can totally see why after spending a few hours with you. You are so fun to be with and I am so excited to see what you choose to do with your future. You’ve got many, many options and I know you are destined for something pretty dang great!!

Side note: I cannot wait to live vicariously through your social media as you embark on your travels!

Thank you again for being a “full-send” senior and agreeing to do a sunrise session! No one can pull off that 5:30am gorgeous glow like you. I am so happy I got to meet you and photograph you. You are one-of-a-kind!

Holistically Haley

Meet Haley: a soon-to-be Eating Psychology Health Coach and entrepreneur!

She is the coolest, sweetest, most bubbly person. I’m privileged to have her as one of my best friends! Haley exudes health, authenticity, and vibrant, holistic well-being. We became friends because of food in my Fruitandchia days (anyone else remember those!?), but now our friendship is built on so much more; it’s built on faith. She has been a crucial person in my life as I’ve stepped into new chapters and as I’ve navigated challenging seasons. She’s been there without fail offering love, encouragement, and support. My heart is LEAPING knowing how many hearts and lives she is going to transform through her business!

While Hales is probably the healthiest person I know now, well-being hasn’t always been at the center of Haley’s life. For years, she struggled with a crippling eating disorder. Her relationship with food, exercise, and body image were sources of major struggle and unrest in her life. But these struggles have now revealed to her the redeeming power of God as she has undergone physical, spiritual, and emotional healing in regards to the disordered eating she suffered from. “I’m not proud of my past, but it’s so beautiful to see how God can use even the worst parts of our life for His Glory!” She mentions Romans 8:28 as a source of truth that’s guided her and given her hope through her hope process. Now, she seeks to help others unlock healing and freedom from fragmented relationships with food.

I find it exhilarating how the healing process of the darkest, toughest struggle in someone’s life can unlock vision and direction for their future. In the overcoming, destiny can be found. The very struggle that was vying for Haley’s livelihood is now the core of her business. It’s beautiful that the victory that she has found in regards to her eating disorder is going to be multiplied through her business. Through faith and her own experience, she is going to help many others find freedom from fragmented relationships with food.

It was an honor to do a brand session with Haley. To capture the essence of her brand, I photographed her preparing some of her favorite recipes. Leave a comment if you are interested in the recipes for either the smoothie bowl or juice that she made!

Enjoy :) Also, get to know Haley. I guarantee your life will be much brighter and sweeter (and healthier) with her in it! Follow her on instagram at @holisticallyhaley for recipes, health tips, and workouts!

Haley, I love you, I’m proud of you, and I’m forever cheering for you. I can’t wait for the future of your business!

James: Class of 2020

James!

Thank you so much for letting me take your senior pictures. I’ve been lucky enough to know you since we were both kids, so I am a bit in denial that you are going to be a senior next year! Where does the time go?

I can’t help but reminisce on the privilege it has been to me and my family to know you! Over the years, you have provided endless entertainment, laughter, and friendship to us. I’ll never forget the laughs and conversations our family has shared with you as we’ve reminisced our Costa Rica trip memories or joked about your and Andrew’s ‘unique’ approaches to removing buckthorn and old bush stumps off our property. You make the environment lighter and more enjoyable when you are in it! Also, I’ve always been impressed with your manners, and the way you take the time to ask how our days are going with sincerity. Gestures like this make a real impact on people - you make an impact on people in more ways than you could know.

Thank you for being such a wonderful friend to my brother! You are one of the few people I’ve seen be a true, dedicated, selfless friend for so many years. We are all SO thankful for you — I can’t imagine not having you in our lives! You truly feel like family, and it’s actually weird at this point when there’s a day you don’t make an appearance at our house. Our doors are always open to you, remember that :-)

I’ve watched you pave your own path in a way few 17-year-olds have. God has deposited a strategic and unique set of talents in you and I am so proud of (and impressed by!) how you have developed those into a career already. I believe in you and am rooting for you! I also strongly believe that there are talents and dreams you haven’t even discovered yet, but are yet to be revealed to you. There is so much to come and so much to be excited. This is just the beginning!

Congratulations on almost being done with high school Jamesie! You’re almost there!

The Season for Blooming: An Honest Excerpt from My Heart

T H E S E A S O N F O R B L O O M I N G

An Excerpt from My Heart

&

The Meaning Behind My Brand

729A8708-2.jpg

729A8706-2.jpg

729A8711-2.jpg

Last summer, I purchased a print from one of my favorite local boutiques. The print, by the ever-talented Anna Lisabeth, says “You will be capable of blooming flowers again come spring”.

Initially, I was drawn in by the perfectly whimsical floral line drawing, but then I became captivated by the sentiment of the simple-yet-beautiful statement. And little did I know, that print would become much more than a pretty print to display on my bedroom wall. It would become a source of hope and a necessary reminder that, just like the weather, I, too, go through seasons in my life. Abundant seasons of fruit and exuberant blooming are often preceded by dry and desolate seasons.

Back to the topic of blooming — there’s something else that captivates me about flowers. In many ways they are an important symbol in my life. They begin as a humble, small seed. But then, when graced with patience and care, they miraculously grow into a beautiful, abundant, life form - one that offers hope and delight.

Something small can

grow into something

with remarkable,

ethereal, indescribable

beauty.

It’s that. The simple truth behind flowers applies to us too.

Hopes and dreams in our hearts may begin as a small seed. But when blessed with patience and gentleness they can manifest into something of great depth and magnitude, something that redefines beauty and surpasses expectations.

That in itself is the meaning behind my branding, and the reason for the flower in my logo. And I don’t mean any of this in the sense that I want this little business of mine to grow into something big. That’s not my goal here.

I want my photography to plant little seeds of hope within the hearts of those I work with and those who experience my photos. I want people to look at photos of themselves and be reconnected to their own sense of beauty. For people to see themselves as God sees them — to see themselves in a way they never before have — that’s my biggest goal. And it has to do with so much more than just the way my photos look. What’s more important to me is how my photos make someone FEEL. Through my photography, whether it’s with working with me as my client or simply viewing my photos, I hope my photos instill hope, dreams, and that each person can encounter Kingdom-grade beauty. After all, and despite all the lies that society instills in us, we are all a reflection of divine beauty, designed in His image.

None of this can be done through my own strength. On my own I don’t have what it takes. At the end of the day, God deserves all the glory, all the credit, because it’s all because of Him and for Him.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed planted in a field. It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of garden plants”

— Matthew 13:31-21

The Tale of Four Basset Hounds

At the end of 2018, I volunteered to auction off a dog portrait session for a charitable cause. When I got the inquiry in my inbox from the winner, it was to my utter delight that the photo session would not be for one cute pup but FOUR! I feel like I was the lucky winner in this situation because spending a morning photographing four dogs is the dream!

Let me introduce you to the four dog-gone cutest basset hounds I have ever met.

Their EARS…

Their PAWS…

Their DROOL…

Their EYES!

Oh ‘fur cute.

These basset hounds were playful, excited, energetic, feisty yet sweet, and stunningly photogenic. I’d say they killed it at their modeling duties ;)

Let’s just say I wouldn’t mind reliving this shoot every single weekend!

Enjoy some impawsibly cute photos :)

Sophia: Class of 2020

This is Sophia!

She is a delightful, vivacious, talented young lady + my fourth Class of 2020 senior rep! I feel beyond lucky to have had the opportunity to photograph such a lovely upcoming senior.

Aside from being my amazing rep Sophia is:

A joyful and smiley ray of sunshine,

A talented alpine skier,

A team leader,

An esteemed yearbook editor,

An avid history + literature lover,

An adventurous soul,

A caring + compassionate friend,

+ so much more!

She is the SWEETEST and felt like a long-lost sister to me, even back when we first met for coffee months ago to begin discussing what being a senior rep would entail. On the day of her shoot we ended up spending 5 hours together and had so many heart-to-hearts as we commuted to her different photo locations. (Part of the 5 hours long part may or may not be because we got lost trying to find the last location… ooops.) I’m not mad about it because I loved every second with Sophia!

Her session was the diverse + perfect mixture of bold, bright, elegant, and feminine. Her photos feature a wide variety of floral elements, deep greens, both dramatic, high-impact lighting and also soft and elegant lighting, delicate organic details, complementary background elements and more. We maximized the day and shot just until the sun fell beneath the tree line. It was a successful shoot to say the least. Trying to choose my favorite images has been an impossible feat. Sophia’s beautiful soul and personality shine through in each photo in a different way. Some of my favorite photos are the candid black and white ones we took at the tail end of the shoot when the sunlight was pretty much gone for the night — scroll to the bottom of this blog post to see!!

Gabby: Class of 2020

Meet Gabby, my third senior rep!

When I met Gabby in March, I immediately realized she is an absolute GEM of a human, someone who is wise well beyond her years. She is incredibly down-to-earth, driven, humble, and genuine. She’s the type of human who is like a breath of fresh air to be around. I knew I wanted her as my senior rep because who she is embodies everything I want to represent with my photography - REAL, genuine, joyful.

Gabby is ambitious and has a big calling on her life. She has goals to be a doctor or surgeon someday and I have no doubt she is going to achieve her dreams and even more! She has the passion, the work ethic, and definitely the discipline to get her there. Her mom was telling me how Gabby is organized and a good time manager. That might be a strange thing for me to add in a blog post, but I’m going to because WOW - I don’t think there are many young adults of her age who have that aspect of life down. Gabby, I am pumped to see how your gifts, talents, discipline, and hard work carry you throughout the next exciting years of your life. (Also, Gabby, I might be calling you up sometime for all your time management tips because that’s an area of my life I’m not a pro at ;) )

Another thing about Gabby is that she is well-rounded and talented in so many areas. She excels in hard classes like calculus, anatomy, and chemistry, crushes it on the soccer field, has artistic talent with drawing, and she is always making those around her laugh. Like WHAT! Talk about a multi-potential lady BOSS!

I’m also giggling to myself because each of my senior reps so far have been exceptional soccer players - Gabby for sure is one! She’s helped carry her varsity soccer team to state two years in a ROW! I’m believing for a third :)

For Gabby’s shoot, we started out at the Peace Garden and finished her shoot in Saint Anthony Main, where we (literally) chased the last few moments of the perfect, ethereal sunset we were blessed with on the night of her shoot. (We got some awesome golden hour shots that I am LOVING.) Plus, her cute pup made an appearance at her shoot which made everything even better. Seniors, pro tip: bring your dogs!!

Thank you for being my rep, Gabby! I believe in you and I cannot wait to see what you accomplish. You’ve worked so hard to get to where you are and I know it will pay off big time. But aside from anything you do, you have a heart of gold and you are so easy and fun to be around. Who you are on the inside is remarkable Chase after your dreams and keep pouring into those around you.

And never forget, you can do ALL things!

Megan: Class of 2020

Meet Megan: my second Class of 2020 senior rep! When I was reaching out to prospective reps, Megan was recommended to me by one of my past seniors. Before I even got to reach out to Megan, she beat me to it, reached out to me first, and introduced herself! I was so impressed! WE LOVE A CONFIDENT LADY!!!! Needless to say, taking Megan on as one of my reps was an easy decision :)

As I got to know Megan more through meeting for coffee earlier this year and on the day of her shoot, I realized that she is astoundingly confident and it is AMAZING. She believes in herself and isn’t afraid to make moves toward what she wants. To me, it is so inspiring to see a young adult with so much zeal and ambition. Aside from these traits she is kind, funny, and so easy to talk to.

When I asked Megan for words to describe her ideal senior shoot, she said warm and cheerful. On the day of her session we were blessed with a perfect golden hour in which we took some of the most majestic, picturesque golden-lit field photos I think I’ve ever taken in my 4 years of taking senior pictures. I’m probably going to be posting them on Instagram for the rest of eternity. Sorry not sorry ;)

I had the best time getting to know Megan. She is:

Self-assured,

Athletic,

A soccer superstar,

A smart cookie,

Driven,

Independent,

Goal-oriented,

A Woman to WATCH. For real. Watch out world, she’s undoubtably gonna make waves.

You are destined for greatness, Megan!! As your senior photographer I am proud of who you are. You have an exciting future ahead of you. I hope it contains many more exciting memories on the soccer field, accomplishments in the classroom, memories with friends, and especially lots of John Mayer ;) P.S. In your honor listened to lots of John Mayer as I edited your photos - I just had to :)

Julia: Class of 2020

Meet JULES!!!

It is my privilege to have Julia as my first Class of 2020 senior rep. She is vivacious, bubbly, down-to-earth, spontaneous, humble, and so so so kind. I can barely believe that it’s my job to hang out and photograph amazing people like Jules. Even better yet, her amazing older sister Becca (who is also my good friend who I met at the U last semester) hung out with us for the morning of Julia’s shoot! Lucky me!

Within the first five minutes of meeting Julia, it felt like we had been close friends for years. Her energy and light, cheerful personality are totally contagious. We had deep, meaningful conversations about faith and life in between taking candid, spontaneous photos that captured her lighthearted and energetic personality. Some of my favorite moments were when Jules pulled out her inner Beyonce. You know how Beyonce exuberantly struts in her yellow dress in the “Hold Up” music video?! Jules pulled that off flawlessly and it was incredible. Another highlight of the shoot was introducing Becca and Jules to the world’s best chai (I’m actually convinced it is) at one of my favorite spots in Minneapolis, Aster Cafe.

It was the PERFECT morning. Mornings like that, spent with an amazing senior, soaking in MN’s beautiful weather, and having deep conversations are truly soul food to me. I. Love. My. Job.!

It was so great to get to know Jules and her heart for others, the Lord, and her many unique and awesome dreams she has for her future. I’m very happy to know that this world has Julia’s brilliant presence in it. Something that impressed me a lot about Julia was her astounding sense of confidence yet remarkable humility. She is a humble and gifted leader who is not afraid to take on difficult challenges. She is also a definite people person who has a knack for putting others at ease and inviting them to be their true selves. She is a delight to be around. She is also incredibly motivated and hard working, and excels in so many spaces: the soccer field, in the classroom, playing the piano, and so many other areas. In other words, she is a multi-faceted, multi-potential SUPERWOMAN!

Jules, thank you so much for being one of my senior rep. I am so thankful and my heart is overflowing with gratitude. I had a blast with you and I am so happy to have a new amazing friend :) I cannot wait to see what the Lord has for you and your bright, exciting future. However, I do hope your future holds many coffee dates with me and afternoons spent discussing our recent favorite podcasts and learning modern calligraphy ;)

The Next Chapter

729A5482-2.jpg

In a month, I will officially be a graduate from the University of Minnesota. That said, what the heck comes next?!

For the past few months, I’ve been trying to figure out how to write this blog post. Never in my whole life have I been so on-the-fence about how to announce something. I’ll explain why later in this post.

But, here we go: I’m doing photography! I’m jumping into the scary and exciting world of full-time entrepreneurship. At least, this is the plan for 6 months. And then, in January 2020, I’ll be headed to Amsterdam to do YWAM! My life after that is a massive blank canvas as of now. I. Am. So. EXCITED!!!

I’ll be candid with you. None of this is at all what I thought would be happening or what I had planned for myself. Or was it what my parents thought I’d do. I thought I’d graduate from Carlson and secure a stable marketing analytics job. This was always the end goal, what I worked hard and sacrificed for throughout these past 3.5 years.

I thought, *maybe*  I would try pursuing my dream of entrepreneurship. But not until I was, like, 28, and had more direction in life, more financial flexibility, more confidence, and less cluelessness. That was my plan.

God gently overturned these plans one day in November. He spoke to me that I’d be going to Amsterdam. It was the most clear-as-day, crazy thing I’ve ever experienced. Since then, God has been bringing life into dreams that were deposited so deeply into my heart that I’d never had the courage to acknowledge them. For months prior to that day in November, I prayed for direction. The direction I got for my life wasn’t what I was expecting, not even remotely close. And I’m learning that that is a good and beautiful thing.

So, why was there so much pushback on announcing these plans?

It took me months to really realize the reasons why I’m willingly stepping into this next season.

For a while I was going to start off this post with an emotionally-grabbing, dramatic recount of the moment I got in a bad car accident. On that day, I was forced to confront the utter fragility of life, which shook me to my very core. (By the miraculous grace of God every person involved walked away without serious injury that day.) But I didn’t feel peace about announcing my plans in that way. Going through this traumatic event and realizing that life can end at any moment DID make me realize the importance of living every single day with purpose, which is a major blessing. But, that experience is not the reason I’m taking this leap of faith.

Then, I was going to write about how photographing people makes me feel truly alive. How I’m so grateful that God gifted me with this passion. How I’m excited to do something I really love every day. But that didn’t feel right either. While these things are true, it felt too much like it was all about me. It felt selfish. And I couldn’t get myself to write that. It felt wrong on a deep down soul level that I’m not even sure I can explain. I am not the reason I’m taking this leap. I truly deserve 0 credit. If I were the god of my own life, photography would forever stay on the back burner, because frankly, it’s safer and more comfortable that way.

Yesterday, I had another really hard, doubtful day, battling some very stubborn anxiety and questioning my plans - doubting myself, my ability, my drive, my discipline. Everything.

I feel an incomprehensible, dichotomous combination of excitement and trepidation about what I’m stepping into this summer. Most days, the majority of my thoughts are “I don’t have what it takes”, “I’m crazy for thinking this will work”, “I’m gonna be a massive embarrassment and failure. Not only that, but a failure with no benefits or 401k”. Ooof. Conveniently, all of these fears start with “I”…. as if I’m the one in control of everything.

But tonight, I had a revelation. It was a triumphant, tearful lightbulb moment that illuminated the dark doubt that had been weighing heavy on my soul.

Here’s the thing:

It’s not about me.

Photography isn’t about me.

Trying out entrepreneurship is not about me.

This summer isn’t about me either.

Heck, my life isn’t even about me.

It’s all for God.

It’s all worship.

It’s about glorifying the Kingdom.

It’s about truly seeking out Matthew 16:25.

It’s about learning to trust that God is the one in control, always has been, and always will be. He’s the Provider and the Way Maker.

Before it even begins, I am surrendering every bit of my life and this entrepreneurial adventure to Him:  the successes, the failures, the uncertainties, the victories, the seemingly insignificant quiet moments, and the big moments. I’m trusting that nothing is done in vain when it’s done for Him.

I’m jumping into entrepreneurship because of God, for God, and most importantly, with God.

Without God, I’m nothing. I am anxious, uncourageous, selfish. Fearful more than anything. But I refuse to let fear drive my future. I’m choosing faith.

So, here’s to the next chapter, & all that it holds! Whatever happens, to God be the glory!

All the love in the whole world,

Meghan

I loved talking about music, life, school, and literally everything in between! Also, you are so easy to talk to, I pretty much told you my whole life story and testimony haha.

Can't wait for coffee dates and photo adventures to come. Stay golden, friend :)

Truthfully Tara

untitled-3210.jpg

Vibrant,

spunky,

authentic,

contagiously enthusiastic,

& so much more:

Meet the one and only Tara Patoile!

She is a human like no other. I am so thankful to have met such an amazing person!

A couple truths about Tara:

She is a role model, a friend, a fascinating story-teller, an effortless relationship builder, an expert marketing technologist (is that a word?), and so much more. She's just all-around empathetic and magnetic WONDERWOMAN.

There's so much more dimension to Tara than her lively presence. She's also one of the most courageous and resilient people I've ever met. Her life story is really something. She has faced all types of tangles, bumps in the road, and adversities in her lifetime.... but you'd never even know with how ebullient she is. She is incredible proof of the power of resilience.

Tara, thank you for being you. You are a light and a blessing in this world. & thank you for inspiring me to be the best version of myself possible!

San Francisco for a Weekend

Some lessons learned during my trip to Stanford:

1// Life is truly full of surprises. No, really. Quirk and I have been friends ever since we were on student council together in the dark ages, a.k.a. high school. Never, in a million years, would I have guessed that years later we'd be exploring San Francisco with his friends who instantly felt like lifelong friends who I've known for ages.

(That said: Cody, Isaac, & Juliet, thank you for making my weekend legendary. It was a blessing to meet each of you and I really hope our paths can cross again in this lifetime!)

2// Pugs are my new 2nd favorite breed of dog, preceded by wiener dogs. Scroll through these pictures and you'll see why.

3// Creating a picnic out of cheap wine, cheese, and baguettes in Golden Gate Park is truly the fanciest I've ever felt.

4// I've never been much of a water drinker, like ever... sorry kidneys. But that all changed when I met Cody (or should I say Isaac) last weekend. This guy is the ultimate hydration role model. I'm serious: he drinks over a gallon of water a day! As a result, he has flawless complexion. I'm quite proud to say that since meeting Cody, I've been inspired. As I write, I've officially drank more than 64oz of water today. Cody, please be proud of me :-)

5// Once upon a time, some creative entrepreneurs thought it would be a good idea to fit two standard beverages into a container the size of a tennis ball. Alas: BuzzBalls. They are an experience. To clarify, definitely a one-time experience, but still a good one. For the maximum experience, I'd recommend consuming them with friends in a gorgeous San Francisco park.

6// San Francisco is so trendy its fog is named Karl. Karl has over 220k Instagram followers... even fog can go viral. We can all learn a thing or two about marketing from literally some suspended water droplets. In San Francisco, anything is possible!

7// The Palo Alto police are so generous that they'll give you 2 parking tickets instead of one.

8// The SF coffee shop scene is almost on point with the Minneapolis coffee shop scene. Clearly I'm not biased. If you're in the area, check out Pentacle Coffee. This is in no way sponsored, I just recognize a dang good oat milk latte when I see one! (Also, I recognize I'm bleeding millennial when I say that... but you know what, overpriced coffee is one of the simple joys in life and anyone who disagrees is probably lying to themselves.)

9// A little bit of honest reflection... after a semester in Europe and a 5-day trip to California, my bank account is near empty but my heart is absolutely full. Thankful for great friends, great views, and memories made! 2018 has been the best year of my life so far and we are only 5 months in -- I cannot wait to see what else is in store.

Hope you enjoy these photos.... I've curated some of my favorite moments and views into this little blog post.

Cheers,

Meghan

P.S. I've never really written personal blog posts like this for fun, but I'm thinking I might have to start.... :)

Pulse Voter

Meet Pulse: a Stanford student-led startup with the vision of redefining how we engage in politics through technology. To do this, they've developed a non-partisan civic engagement platform that makes politics more accessible and understandable. Personally, as someone who would like to become more politically involved but is overwhelmed by the complexities of doing so, this platform completely changes the game for me. I have no doubt that it'll have this effect on the thousands of other Americans who are in the same boat: willing to but not quite sure how to take that next step in activating their political voice.

I had the privilege of visiting Stanford and getting to know the Pulse team last weekend. As a business major myself, I had a blast talking marketing, branding, and strategy with them for hours on end. Inevitably, headshots became a part of this discussion -- quality headshots are crucial to developing a brand image of a company.

Did you know that it only takes 1/10th of a second for someone to judge you based on a photo of you? Believe it or not, it's true, and it's backed up by scientific research at Princeton University. A solid headshot is seriously crucial in creating an impressionable profile or website.

Aside from the importance of headshots, headshot shoots themselves don't have to be serious or intimidating by any means. In fact, I strive for them to be the exact opposite. I'm not sure I've ever had so much fun with a headshot shoot as I did with the Pulse team. This shoot was full of energy, laughter, and lots of shenanigans, as you'll see in some of these photos. As a photographer, almost as important as snapping crisp, professional, confidence-boosting headshots is creating a fun enjoyable experience. The photos last forever, but so do the memories of the shoot!

P.S.: Follow along & get engaged with Pulse: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn

Mary & Charlie: 4/28/18

Couldn't have asked for a sunnier, more beautiful morning for Mary & Charlie's wedding. It took place at the beautiful Saint Agnes Catholic Church in Saint Paul, MN. What made this location extra special is the fact that Charlie and Mary met in that church in the eighth grade!

Scroll down for a few of my favorite moments from their special day.

Cheers, Charlie & Mary! I wish you both a happy future together :)

Jaclyn: Class of 2018

Jaclyn, it was so nice to meet you :) Even though there were practically tornado level winds that were tough to work with, you killed your senior session. Fall senior sessions are my new favorite thing... it's not 90 degrees out and humid, there are beautiful fall tones, and fall fashion is the best fashion in my opinion. Which, now that I mention fashion, you picked out the cutest outfits!

I am so amazed at how much you've accomplished and how humble you are. I wish you the best with your collegiate basketball career, and have an amazing time out east! Minnesota will miss ya! But, before then, I hope you have an amazing senior year!

ALSO - special shoutout to my girl Julia for making an appearance! I always love when a past senior I've photographed tags along for a friend's shoot!
